Modification to existing house is necessary to reduce its excessive footprint, from 5 bedrooms to 3 bedrooms. A new kitchen-dining-living addition is setbacked sufficiently from existing house to maximise its north facing aspects and create two new courtyards. East courtyard is ideal for outdoor activities whilst west courtyard is ideal for plantings to serve as a natural shade against harsh western sun. A glazed link with uninterrupted views of the courtyard connects the new addition and the house.
